Who Says Boy Things Aren't Cute?!?!

My perception has always been that little girl things are so much cuter than little boy things.  Now that I have a little boy, I will have to say that I think I have been wrong all this time.  Little boy clothes may not be cuter, but the things we have received have been just as cute as little girl clothes.  We have been so blessed to have so many family and friends gift us sweet clothes for Kaden.  His closet and drawers are already full of things for the first year of his life.  We are thankful for each and every thing received.  We are especially thankful for Mimi who has been busy shopping for Kaden and has help stock his wardrobe for the upcoming year.  Below are just a handful of things received...

Tongue Clipping Success!

On Tuesday, August 21st, Kaden had an appointment with the ENT to look at his tongue.  I noticed right after birth that he was "tied" pretty tight.  Tongue tying can be hereditary, and it stands to reason in this case...I had my tongue clipped as an infant, and Kathryn had hers clipped at 3 weeks old.  After the doctor looked at it, he confirmed that he was tied and needed to be clipped.  First the doctor sprayed some numbing spray under Kaden's tongue.  Kaden didn't seem to mind this.  Then, the doctor had to do two cuts.  I was so proud, Kaden never even cried.  It bled for a minute or two, and then we were free to go.  Since I had already experienced this previously with Kathryn, I was not nervous or anxious.  Before leaving the office, the doctor informed me that in all his times of clipping infant tongues, this was the first time he could ever remember the baby not crying.  Again, I was just proud of my tough, sweet boy!  After this appointment, we went to visit Daddy at work.  We wanted his co-workers to be able to meet our newest addition.  Then we ran a couple of errands and afterwards came home.  Kaden was great while we were out and about.  He really is such a good baby!!!!!

Week 2 for Kaden

Last week was another great week.  Kyle was off all week and helped me with night time feedings.  It was also really nice having him here during the day.  I got out for a hair appointment and a lunch date with Kailey and Becky in Nashville.  Kyle spent the week relaxing which I know was much needed.  At 9 days old, August 15th, Kaden's cord fell off.  I was so excited, and those always worry me until gone.  Kaden continues to eat 4 ounces every 4 hours.  At nighttime, sometimes he will go as long as 5 and a half hours.  He wants to "party" between 9 and 11 each night.  We are working on training him to go to bed closer to 9.  I know within time, he will adjust.  We had lots of visitors last week.  The Lanhams, Henleys, and Katie Hawkins came during the week, and Brooke Callis and the girls came on Saturday.  On Sunday, we headed to Camden so Kaden could meet his great grandmother, great aunt Sandy, and cousin Jonathan.  We had a fun and busy week/weekend!

Announcing the Birth of Kaden Davis Luther

Our Birth Announcements came in, and I quickly addressed over 70 announcements to send out to friends and family.  I was pretty excited that they came in so quickly.  I ordered them on August 9th, and they arrived on the 14th.  I spent all this morning addressing and took them to the post office this afternoon.  Kathryn went with me to help me stamp the envelopes.  She is my little side kick and a great helper.  People received the announcements on the 16th...just 10 days after Kaden's birth.  I consider this a success!!!!!

Playing Catch Up

This past week has been a whirlwind....I was induced Monday, August 6th and had Kaden that evening.  We were discharged and came home Wednesday, August 8th which was Kathryn's 4th birthday.  Wednesday evening, we went to the Luthers for a small family bday celebration for Kathryn.  Thursday was spent settling in, getting the house squared away, working on birth announcements, and just general housekeeping.  Friday morning, Kaden had a doctor's appointment, and then we had to go to Gateway for his blood work (checking jaundice levels which came back in the normal range).  That afternoon, we had some visitors.  Saturday morning, we had our newborn pictures taken as well as Kathryn's 4 year pictures.  That afternoon, we went to the Luthers to take a picture of all the Luther boys and had dinner.  Sunday, Momma Hope came over to meet Kaden, and that afternoon, we took a family trip to the park.  Today, Monday, August 13th, Kathryn had her 4 year check up (which included 4 shots).  I will have to say, she did great.  She didn't cry and was such a big girl.  Afterwards, we went to Target, the Library, Chick Fil A, Walgreens, and then to Family Pet Hospital to get Bailey some meds.  It has been a busy morning for us, but it was lots of fun getting out and it just being the two of us.  At 5:23 PM, I will officially have a one week old son...Happy One Week Kaden!!!!!

Our first weekend as a family of 4

Saturday morning, we had our newborn pictures taken.  They went really well.  Thank goodness Momma Pam was here to help me.  Pictures always stress me out, so having her here was a huge relief!  That evening, we went to Mimi and Papa's for dinner and to take a picture of all the Luther boys.

That afternoon, we decided to take a family trip to the park.  The weather was beautiful, and we thought it would be fun Kathryn to get outside to play.  We had a great afternoon!
